WAGGA’S WOODFIRED WAGON – FIRE SAFETY POLICY
*If your date falls between 1 October - 31 March, please read below
We are permitted to trade in a TOBAN (total fire ban) however the below conditions must be followed.
We will Endeavor to work closely with you if this was to affect your event date and provide catering to the best of our abilities without being able to utilize the Woodfired oven.

Alternatively (if not already booked for other catering purposes) we may utilize our gas fires Gozney brand pizza oven. Being gas, it is permitted for use in a TOBAN.

This oven does have the ability to replicate our Woodfired pizzas but may result in a slowed/altered service due to capacity.

In the above scenario we must:
​
1) operate in an area with no combustible materials within 2 meters of oven
​
2) have immediate access to reticulated water hose
​
3) operate within 20 meters of a permanent dwelling
​
Below are the terms set out in our TOBAN (total fire ban) exemption.

Prior to proceeding, WE are required to discuss this work event with the local New South Wales Rural Fire Service zone district manager, or the officer in charge of the nearest fire and rescue New South Wales fire station. As additional conditions may be imposed, which may include a direction that the event be postponed, we will notify you if any changes.
WE also reserve the right to assess the risk at any time and make any necessary changes required to ensure safety is maintained.

In granting this exemption, the New South Wales Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue New South Wales notes the mitigation measures and controls advised by Wagga’s Woodfired Wagon. Please note the following supplementary conditions of this exemption:
1). When operational, the cooking appliance/s is to be situated on a hard surface, free of all combustible material for no less than 10m in all directions. (I.e concrete, bitumen, gravel)

2). Provision of a minimum 9L dry chemical fire extinguisher (tested, tagged and in date), fire blanket and a minimum 20L water container which are accessible and located within 2m of the cooking unit and food preparation areas.
3). On-site access to a reticulated (mains) water supply with appropriate firefighting nozzles hoses and other associated equipment.
4). Staff training and supervision in the use of this firefighting equipment.
5). A fine mesh spark arrester to be fitted onto the outlet of the oven flue and air inlet of the cooking unit.
6). All burnt solid fuels and ashes must be completely extinguished and allowed to sufficiently cooled in water prior to disposal.
7.) The extinguished, cooled burnt solid fuels and ashes and not to be left under the responsibility of the customer but removed from the venue location by the operator and disposed of in a safe manner which prevents the escape and/or spread of a possible ignition source.
8). The area is checked (including rubbish receptacles, bins, Etc.) at the completion of the activity to ensure no heated, smoldering or burning material remains.
9). A copy of the TOBAN exemption approval is to be available for display on request to an authorized person (e.g. Representative of a fire agency, police force, etc.).
10). On days where the fire danger rating is predicted to be severe or extreme, the operator is to notify the nearest New South Wales rural fire service district office and the nearest fire and rescue New South Wales of the intention to undertake cooking and baking activities and to follow any direction given by either agency including the suspension of all outside cooking and baking activities.
11). On days where the fire danger rating is predicted to be catastrophic, this exemption is temporarily suspended pending a reduction in the fire danger rating. Please note the requirement to notify the nearest New South Wales rural fire service district office and the nearest fire and rescue New South Wales fire station prior to undertaking any outdoor cooking and all baking on all and any day of the total Fire ban.
